Step 1: Surface Preparation – Flat and Level
- Clean the substrate thoroughly and remove any contaminants such as dust, oil, or old adhesive.
- Use a long straightedge or level to ensure the surface is flat within 1/8″ over 10 ft. Large-format tiles are sensitive to unevenness.
- Apply a waterproofing membrane if installing in moisture-prone areas such as bathrooms or kitchens.
Step 2: Layout Planning – Balance and Veining
- Snap chalk lines to mark centerlines for a balanced tile layout.
- Dry-lay several tiles to preview Iceberg marble’s icy veining and tone variation. Blend from multiple boxes.
- Use **1/16″–1/8″ grout spacing**. Beveled edges enhance the visibility of grout joints, so keep them even.
Step 3: Mortar Application – Use White Thin-Set

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Clean Edges, No Chipping
- Use a wet saw equipped with a continuous-rim diamond blade suitable for marble.
- Polish visible cut edges as needed using a marble file or diamond hand pad.
Step 5: Setting Tiles – Flat and Aligned
- Place tiles carefully and use a leveling system to eliminate lippage across large-format surfaces.
- Align beveled edges precisely; misalignment will be more noticeable due to the joint profile.
- Use spacers to maintain even joints and clean off any excess thin-set before it dries.
- Allow to cure for 24 hours before grouting.
Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Finish with Care
