Step 1: Surface Preparation – Flat and Dry Foundation

  • Clean the substrate thoroughly—remove dust, oil, debris, and any remaining adhesive.
  • Check the floor with a 6-ft level; large-format 24″x24″ tiles require a flat surface with no more than 1/8″ variation over 10 ft.
  • Use a self-leveling compound to correct dips, humps, or uneven areas before setting the tile.
  • In wet environments such as showers, apply a waterproofing membrane approved for natural limestone.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Visual Balance for Large Tiles

  • Establish center lines with chalk to keep the layout symmetrical and reduce narrow cuts near walls.
  • Dry-lay a few pieces to see the natural tone consistency of Lymra Limestone’s light cream color.
