Installation Guide – Step by Step

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Clean, Dry, and Flat

• Ensure substrate is clean, dry, and structurally sound.
• Use a long level to check for dips or high spots. Honed marble in brick format requires flatness for smooth alignment.
• Apply waterproofing membrane if installing in wet zones like showers or backsplashes.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Respect Veining & Bevels

• Snap layout lines from the center for symmetrical installation.
• Dry-lay tiles to preview veining and balance natural variation in Iceberg marble.
• Use **1/16″–1/8″ grout spacing**. Beveled edges will emphasize grout lines, so maintain tight, consistent joints.
• Consider running bond (50% offset) or stacked layout based on design preference.

Step 3: Mortar Application – White Thin-Set Only

Recommended Thin-Sets:

• Mapei Ultraflex LFT White
• Laticrete 254 Platinum White
• Ardex X77 White

Instructions:

• Apply with a 1/4″ square-notched trowel or larger depending on surface flatness.
• Back-butter each tile for secure adhesion and even support.
• Apply mortar in small sections to prevent skin-over before setting tiles.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Clean, No Chipping

• Use a wet saw with a fine diamond blade for clean cuts along the edges and bevels.
• Dry-fit cut tiles before setting to confirm fit and alignment.
• Smooth cut edges as needed with a marble polishing pad or file.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Precision Matters

• Press each tile firmly into thin-set. Tap gently with a rubber mallet for alignment.
• Use leveling clips for long runs or staggered layouts to prevent lippage.
• Clean off excess mortar from the honed surface and joints immediately to avoid permanent staining.
• Let cure for 24 hours before grouting.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Seal Before & After

• Pre-seal honed Iceberg marble with a penetrating sealer to protect from grout pigments.
• Use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching honed surfaces and beveled edges.
• Grout diagonally using a rubber float. Wipe quickly and buff dry to avoid haze.
• Once grout has cured (after 72 hours), apply a second layer of sealer for long-term protection.

Maintenance Tips – Gentle & Regular

• Use only pH-neutral stone-safe cleaners. Never use acidic or bleach-based products.
• Clean spills immediately, especially oils and colored liquids.
• Re-seal every 6–12 months depending on location and traffic.
• Use felt pads under furniture to prevent surface scratching.

Shipping & Packaging

Each 6″ x 12″ Iceberg Honed Marble Tile with beveled edge is securely boxed and cushioned for safe delivery. Store indoors and inspect tiles before installation for blending.
