Dorian Gold 12×24 Porcelain Tile Polished Rectified
Bring a warm, refined look to your space with the Dorian Gold 12×24 porcelain tile. Its polished surface delivers a luminous finish, while rectified edges support tight, consistent joints for clean-lined installations across walls or floors where a glossy sheen is desired.
Engineered in durable porcelain with a PEI 4 wear rating, this tile balances style with everyday practicality. Frost resistance expands design options to exterior facades in freeze–thaw climates. As with any polished surface, evaluate slip resistance for areas exposed to water or heavy foot traffic.
The versatile 12×24 format creates visual continuity with fewer grout lines, making it an elegant choice for kitchens, baths, feature walls, and other interiors that benefit from a crisp, contemporary presentation.

Installation Guide – Dorian Gold 12×24 Porcelain Tile Polished Rectified
Important Advisory
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, flatness, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Verify the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within industry tolerances for tiles of this size to help minimize lippage.
- Plan the layout by dry-laying tiles and centering the design to avoid small perimeter cuts.
- Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute any shade variation evenly.
- Select a joint width appropriate for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171 at prescribed intervals and changes of plane.
Step 2: Tile Installation
- Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile.
- Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with an appropriate notched trowel. Back-butter 12×24 tiles as needed to improve coverage.
- Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve the coverage required by application and location.
- Use a tile leveling system if needed to help reduce lippage on rectangular tiles of this size.
- Protect edges and surfaces; allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or light traffic.
Step 3: Cutting
- Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
- Mark and support tiles carefully to reduce chipping and breakage.
- Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Choose a grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; follow manufacturer mixing and cure times.
- Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
- Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
- Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner approved for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
- Use entry mats and felt pads where appropriate to reduce tracked-in grit and scratching.
- Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
