Installation Guide – Desert Bloom 16″x24″ Tumbled Travertine Paver
Important Note
This guide covers only the paver covering process. Base and substrate preparation must be completed by qualified personnel prior to installation.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Start with a dry layout to assess the natural variation in tone and texture.
- Arrange pieces with a blend of colors and textures for visual balance.
- Use running bond, grid, or ashlar pattern depending on your design intent.
Step 2: Placement
- Place each paver on the prepared bedding layer gently and level it using a rubber mallet.
- Maintain uniform joint spacing (1/8″ to 1/4″) across the layout.
- Use spacers if needed to ensure consistent alignment.
Step 3: Cutting & Adjustments
- Cut using a wet saw with a diamond blade suitable for travertine.
- Smooth cut edges if they remain exposed to preserve a soft, tumbled finish.
Step 4: Joint Treatment
- Fill joints with polymeric sand or a travertine-compatible joint filler.
- Sweep excess material and gently compact the surface.
- Lightly mist polymeric sand to activate bonding, following manufacturer instructions.
Step 5: Sealing & Maintenance
- Apply a breathable, penetrating sealer designed for travertine.
- Do not use acidic cleaners. Opt for pH-neutral products only.
- Reapply sealer annually or as recommended for exterior use.
