Installation Guide – Avalon White 6″x12″ Leather Finish Marble Paver
Material Overview
- Natural marble paver with a leather (brushed) finish for a slightly textured, slip-resistant surface.
- Designed for outdoor horizontal installation such as patios, walkways, and terraces.
- Not recommended for high-load driveways without reinforced installation.
Step 1: Base Preparation (Dry-Set Method)
- Excavate to a depth of 6″–8″, depending on soil and climate conditions.
- Lay 4″–6″ of compacted crushed stone or gravel base (minimum 95% compaction).
- Add 1″ of bedding sand or screenings and screed to create a level surface.
Step 2: Laying the Pavers
- Place pavers in your desired layout (e.g., running bond or herringbone) with consistent joint spacing (1/8″–1/4″).
- Tap each paver gently with a rubber mallet to set it firmly in the bedding layer.
- Use a level regularly to ensure an even finish.
Step 3: Cutting and Adjustments
- Use a wet saw with a diamond blade suitable for marble to make precise cuts.
- Wear protective gear and cut in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Sweep polymeric sand or fine joint sand into gaps between pavers.
- Compact the surface with a plate compactor equipped with a rubber pad.
- Mist lightly with water if using polymeric sand to activate the binding agents.
Sealing & Maintenance
- Apply a penetrating sealer formulated for marble and exterior use to enhance longevity and reduce staining.
- Re-seal every 1–2 years depending on foot traffic and weather exposure.
- Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid acidic or abrasive substances that may etch the marble.
Disclaimer
Marble is a natural stone and may feature veining, tonal variation, and surface movement. These characteristics are part of its aesthetic. Proper sub-base compaction and drainage planning are critical for outdoor performance. Always perform a dry layout and sample area prior to full installation.
