Installation Guide – Nextone Taupe Line 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow Happy Floors installation instructions, applicable local building codes, and recognized tile installation standards. Confirm that the substrate, setting materials, waterproofing, drainage, movement accommodation, and selected application are appropriate for the project. Installation should be performed by qualified professionals.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify that the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and adequately flat for the selected tile layout.
  • Dry-lay or plan the installation to balance the design and avoid unnecessarily narrow perimeter cuts.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute taupe tones and linear pattern variation evenly.
  • Plan movement joints and changes of plane in accordance with applicable industry guidance; maintain the selected joint width consistently throughout the installation.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a setting material approved for porcelain tile and compatible with the specific substrate and application.
  • Apply mortar to the prepared substrate using an appropriate method for the tile size and project conditions. Periodically check coverage and adjust the installation technique as needed.
  • Set each tile with a slight back-and-forth motion to help collapse mortar ridges and achieve a secure bond. Avoid relying on spot bonding.
  • Keep tile faces and joints clean during installation, and allow the setting material to cure according to its manufacturer’s instructions before grouting or subjecting the installation to use.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut porcelain with equipment and a diamond blade appropriate for porcelain tile.
  • Measure and mark cuts carefully, supporting the tile during cutting to help reduce chipping.
  • Ease or finish exposed cut edges as appropriate for transitions, terminations, or other visible details.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose grout that is compatible with porcelain tile, the selected joint width, and the project conditions.
  • Follow the grout manufacturer’s directions for mixing, application, cleaning, and curing. Pack joints fully and remove excess grout without damaging the tile surface.
  • Use an appropriate flexible sealant at movement joints, changes of plane, and perimeter transitions rather than filling those locations with rigid grout.
  • Protect the installation from traffic and impacts until the mortar and grout have cured as directed by their manufacturers.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Remove installation residue promptly using products recommended for porcelain tile and the grout system.
  • For routine care, use a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain and avoid harsh acids, abrasive powders, or aggressive tools.
  • Use mats or other reasonable measures to limit tracked-in grit, and follow the grout manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations.
