Waves Sand 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified
Understated and versatile, the Waves Sand 12×24 porcelain tile features a warm sand tone with a natural matte surface and crisp rectified edges. The 12×24 format streamlines grout lines for a clean, modern look across continuous floors and walls.
Engineered in durable porcelain with a PEI 4 wear rating and a DCOF of 0.42 (wet), this tile balances everyday practicality with design flexibility in kitchens, baths, living areas, and commercial wall spaces. Frost resistance also supports exterior wall applications in freeze–thaw climates.
Use Waves Sand on its own for a calm, uniform backdrop or pair it with coordinating trims and accents to create layered architectural detail from room to room.

Installation Guide – Waves Sand 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified
Important Advisory
Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Ensure proper substrate preparation, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Verify substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances appropriate for 12×24 tile.
- Plan the layout by dry-fitting tiles, centering the design, and avoiding small perimeter cuts.
- Blend material from multiple boxes to distribute shade variation evenly.
- Select a grout joint consistent with rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.
Step 2: Tile Installation
- Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile; select a formulation suitable for the tile size and application.
- Key mortar into the substrate, comb in one direction, and back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
- Set tiles with a slight sliding motion to collapse ridges; achieve coverage levels appropriate to the area of use (e.g., higher coverage in wet areas).
- Use a tile leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage on 12×24 installations.
- Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer guidance before grouting or permitting traffic.
Step 3: Cutting
- Cut with a wet saw and a quality diamond blade designed for porcelain.
- Mark cuts carefully and support the tile fully to minimize chipping.
- Ease sharp cut edges where exposed.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Choose a grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; mix and apply per manufacturer instructions.
- Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly.
- Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
- Protect the installation from traffic until grout cures as directed.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
- Use entry mats and felt pads to reduce tracked-in grit and scratching.
- Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
