Naica Perla 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Refined and versatile, the Naica Perla 12×24 porcelain tile delivers a clean, contemporary look in a neutral Perla tone. Engineered from durable porcelain with precise rectified edges, this tile supports tight, consistent joints and everyday practicality. A PEI 4 wear rating suits busy residential areas and select light commercial spaces, and frost resistance opens design possibilities for exterior facades in freeze–thaw climates.

Installation Guide – Naica Perla 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required for the intended application.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances suitable for 12×24 tile.
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, balance cuts, and center field areas to avoid small perimeter pieces.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to evenly distribute shade and pattern variation.
  • Select spacers and joint width appropriate for rectified tile; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile and the project’s conditions.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb in one direction with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight push-and-slide motion to collapse ridges and achieve required bond; target coverage consistent with standards and application (typically 80–95%).
  • Use a leveling system where helpful to minimize lippage on larger formats.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer recommendations before grouting or exposing to traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw and a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Measure and mark carefully; support the tile fully during cuts to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges as appropriate for exposed transitions.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; mix and apply per manufacturer instructions.
  • Pack joints completely with a rubber float; clean diagonally and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use flexible sealants at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic and moisture until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner approved for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to limit tracked-in grit and surface abrasion.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
