Installation Guide – Step by Step

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Clean and Flat

• Ensure the wall surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or old adhesive.
• Check substrate flatness with a long level; limestone tiles require a smooth and even foundation.
• In wet areas such as showers or backsplashes, apply a waterproofing membrane compatible with natural stone.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Consistent & Balanced

• Select your preferred layout: stacked, offset, vertical, or herringbone for added visual interest.
• Dry-lay several tiles to preview tone and texture variations typical of Lymra Light Cream limestone.
• Blend tiles from multiple boxes to achieve consistent color flow across the surface.
• Use 1/16″–1/8″ grout joints depending on your design preference and edge alignment.

Step 3: Mortar Application – Use White Thin-Set

Recommended Adhesives:

• Mapei Ultraflex LFT White
• Laticrete 254 Platinum White
• Ardex X77 White

Instructions:

• Use a 1/4″ square-notched trowel for wall installations.
• Back-butter each tile to ensure proper bonding—especially important for narrow 3×12 limestone pieces.
• Work in small sections to prevent the mortar from skinning over.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Smooth, Clean Edges

• Use a wet saw with a fine diamond blade suitable for limestone to achieve chip-free cuts.
• For herringbone or offset layouts, ensure precise angle cuts for perfect alignment.
• Test-fit all pieces before securing them in place.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Keep Lines Straight

• Begin installation from a level reference line or a visual focal point.
• Use spacers to maintain uniform grout spacing and straight-edge alignment.
• Press tiles firmly into the thin-set and tap gently with a rubber mallet to keep the surface even.
• Remove excess mortar immediately to avoid stains on the honed limestone surface.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Protect the Stone

• Pre-seal limestone tiles before grouting to prevent pigment absorption.
• Use non-sanded grout for tight joints to avoid scratching the honed finish.
• Grout in small sections and clean with a damp sponge frequently.
• After grout cures, apply a penetrating sealer to protect against moisture and daily wear.

Maintenance Tips – Preserve the Natural Beauty

• Use only pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or bleach-based products.
• Wipe spills immediately to prevent staining or etching.
• Re-seal the surface every 6–12 months, especially in wet or high-use areas.
• Avoid abrasive pads or chemicals that may dull the honed finish.

Shipping & Packaging

Each 3″ x 12″ Lymra Limestone Honed Tile is carefully packaged with protective padding to prevent edge chipping. Store tiles indoors and inspect each piece before installation to ensure consistent tone and finish.
