Installation Guide – Happy Floors Navona Grey Vein Cut Brick 4×12 Rectified Porcelain Tile

Important Advisory

Inspect all cartons before installation to confirm color, veining, finish, size, and quantity. Do not install material with visible defects. Follow Happy Floors’ product instructions, the setting-material manufacturers’ recommendations, applicable local building codes, and recognized tile industry standards. Confirm that the selected installation environment is appropriate for the product’s supplied specifications.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify dimensions, reference lines, transitions, and finished elevations before setting tile.
  • Dry-lay material from multiple boxes to review the Grey Vein Cut appearance and distribute veining in a balanced manner.
  • Plan the selected 4×12 layout, including brick, stacked, border, and transition details, before applying mortar.
  • Use the rectified edges to plan consistent joints, while selecting joint widths in accordance with applicable tile industry standards and the recommendations of the tile, mortar, and grout manufacturers.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Install over a clean, dry, flat, stable, and properly prepared substrate suitable for porcelain tile. Remove dust, grease, paint, curing compounds, and other bond-inhibiting materials.
  • Repair cracks, movement, uneven areas, or damaged substrate before installation. Use an appropriate waterproofing system where required by the application and applicable standards.
  • Select a quality mortar suitable for porcelain tile, the substrate, and the installation environment. Apply mortar according to the mortar manufacturer’s instructions and work within its recommended open time.
  • Use the appropriate trowel and installation technique for the substrate and tile size. Press tiles firmly into the mortar and periodically remove a tile to verify proper mortar transfer and coverage.
  • Maintain the planned alignment and use spacers as needed for consistent joints. Check lines and surface flatness frequently, especially in brick or stacked patterns, and remove excess mortar from joints before it hardens.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Use a professional tile cutter, wet saw, or other equipment with a blade suitable for porcelain tile.
  • Measure and dry-fit cut pieces before final placement, allowing for planned joints and movement accommodation.
  • Make openings and detailed cuts with appropriate porcelain-tile tools. Protect finished surfaces during handling and check cut edges before setting.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Allow the mortar to cure according to the setting-material manufacturer’s instructions before grouting.
  • Select grout compatible with porcelain tile and the chosen joint width. Follow the grout manufacturer’s mixing, application, cleaning, and curing instructions.
  • Apply grout evenly and remove excess from the tile surface promptly using the manufacturer-recommended method. Avoid leaving grout in movement joints, changes of plane, perimeter joints, or other locations that require flexible sealant.
  • Use a suitable flexible sealant at changes of plane and where required by the project design or applicable standards.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Remove installation residue and grout haze using cleaning products and methods approved for porcelain tile and the grout system.
  • Clean regularly with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner appropriate for the tile and grout.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and cleaning methods that may damage the natural finish or grout joints.
  • Inspect and maintain grout and flexible sealant joints according to the manufacturers’ care recommendations.

Disclaimer

Installation conditions vary by project. Stone Market USA recommends having tile installed by a qualified professional who verifies substrate preparation, mortar and grout compatibility, movement accommodation, waterproofing, drainage, and application suitability before installation. Product appearance and sizing should be approved from the actual material before it is set.
