Installation Guide – Fibra Silver 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and current ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines. Verify substrate suitability, flatness, movement accommodation, and required waterproofing/drainage for wet or exterior areas.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within industry tolerances for the tile size.
  • Dry-lay to plan cuts, balance perimeters, and align patterns; blend material from multiple boxes to distribute shade variation.
  • Select a grout joint consistent with rectified tile and the pattern; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain; mix and apply per manufacturer directions.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notched trowel, and back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight perpendicular motion to collapse ridges and achieve required coverage (typically 80–95% depending on area).
  • Use a leveling system when needed to help minimize lippage on larger-format installations.
  • Allow mortar to cure fully before grouting or allowing foot traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Support tiles during cutting and ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.
  • Drill openings with diamond core bits at low speed with adequate cooling.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose a grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; mix and apply per manufacturer instructions.
  • Pack joints completely with a rubber float; clean diagonally and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured as directed.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner approved for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use walk-off mats and felt pads to minimize grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer guidance for maintenance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
