Austral Grey 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified
Streamlined and versatile, the Austral Grey 12×24 porcelain tile delivers a refined grey palette with a soft natural (matte) surface. The generous 12×24 size helps reduce grout lines for a smooth, contemporary look across floors and walls, while precise rectified edges support consistent, narrow joints.
Crafted in durable porcelain, this tile balances design flexibility with everyday practicality—ideal for kitchens, baths, and living areas, as well as commercial wall applications. Frost resistance opens design options for exterior facades in freeze–thaw climates. Use Austral Grey on its own for understated elegance or pair it with complementary materials for layered architectural detail.
Box coverage is 13.23 sq. ft., simplifying planning and takeoffs for your project.

Installation Guide – Austral Grey 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified
Important Advisory
Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, flatness, and required waterproofing/drainage for the intended application.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances for 12×24 tile.
- Dry-lay and plan the layout to balance cuts and avoid narrow slivers at perimeters.
- Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute any shade variation evenly.
- Use spacers appropriate for rectified tile and provide movement joints per TCNA EJ171.
Step 2: Tile Installation
- Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile and the project conditions.
- Key mortar into the substrate and comb in straight lines with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
- Set tiles with a slight sliding motion to collapse ridges; target 80–95% mortar coverage based on area and exposure.
- Use a leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage, especially with larger formats.
- Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or subjecting the installation to traffic.
Step 3: Cutting
- Cut using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
- Mark cuts carefully and support the tile fully to reduce chipping.
- Lightly ease sharp cut edges at exposed transitions as needed.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the planned joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing and cure.
- Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
- Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
- Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
- Use entry mats and protective pads to reduce tracked-in grit and surface wear.
- Follow grout manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations; seal cementitious grout if specified.
