Installation Guide – Arona Beige 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, flatness, and required waterproofing/drainage for the application. Include movement accommodation per TCNA EJ171.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within tolerances appropriate for large-format tile (12×24).
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, balance cuts, and align grout joints; center the design to avoid small perimeter pieces.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to evenly distribute any shade or pattern variation.
  • Select a joint width appropriate for rectified tile and the intended pattern; plan movement joints at changes of plane and perimeters.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and large-format tiles.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight perpendicular motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond; target coverage per industry guidelines for the area of use.
  • Use a leveling system where helpful to reduce lippage with large-format installations.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer directions before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut using a wet saw fitted with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark and support tiles carefully during cuts to minimize chipping.
  • Ease cut edges where exposed for a refined transition.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer instructions for mixing, application, and cure.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float; clean diagonally across joints and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use flexible sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured as specified.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and protective pads under furniture to reduce grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; seal cementitious grout if recommended.
