Installation Guide – Titan Ivory Edge 4×12 Ceramic Tile Glossy

Important Advisory

Inspect all tile before installation and confirm that the color, finish, dimensions, and overall appearance meet project requirements. Follow current Happy Floors instructions, setting-material manufacturer guidance, applicable local codes, and recognized tile-industry standards. Installed material is generally considered accepted.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Measure the installation area and establish level, plumb reference lines before setting tile.
  • Dry-lay representative tiles to evaluate the Ivory Edge appearance and determine the most balanced placement of cuts.
  • Plan horizontal, vertical, stacked, or offset arrangements around focal points, corners, fixtures, outlets, and other interruptions.
  • Maintain consistent joints and provide movement accommodation where required by the installation conditions and applicable industry standards.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Confirm that the substrate is clean, dry, flat, structurally sound, and free of contaminants that could interfere with adhesion.
  • Repair unsuitable or uneven surfaces before installation. Wet-area assemblies must incorporate appropriate waterproofing and moisture-management systems as required.
  • Use a setting mortar suitable for ceramic tile, the substrate, and the intended interior environment.
  • Select a trowel and application method according to the mortar manufacturer’s guidance, periodically checking tiles for adequate mortar transfer and contact.
  • Press tiles firmly into place while monitoring alignment, joint consistency, and surface plane throughout the installation.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Use a tile cutter, wet saw, or other professional tool fitted for ceramic tile.
  • Measure and dry-fit cut pieces before applying setting material.
  • Support the tile properly during cutting and handle finished and cut edges carefully to reduce chipping.
  • Plan exposed cuts so they can be finished with suitable trim or positioned discreetly where appropriate.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Allow the setting material to cure according to its manufacturer’s instructions before grouting.
  • Choose grout compatible with glossy ceramic tile and the selected joint width.
  • Apply grout carefully and remove residue promptly with clean water and a non-abrasive sponge, following the grout manufacturer’s directions.
  • Use an appropriate flexible sealant rather than rigid grout at changes of plane and movement joints where required.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Remove setting material and grout residue from the glossy surface before they harden.
  • For routine care, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner approved for ceramic tile.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh tools, and cleaning products that could dull or scratch the finish.
  • Maintain grout and sealant joints according to their manufacturers’ care recommendations.

Disclaimer

Installation conditions vary by project. Verify product suitability, substrate requirements, waterproofing details, setting materials, grout, movement joints, and maintenance procedures before work begins. Use a qualified tile installer when appropriate, and follow manufacturer instructions, local codes, and recognized industry standards.
