Newton Graphite 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Refined and versatile, the Newton Graphite 12×24 porcelain tile brings a modern charcoal tone with a soft natural (matte) surface. Its precise rectified edges support clean, consistent joints for a streamlined look across floors and walls.

Crafted in durable porcelain at 9.5mm thickness, this tile balances style with everyday practicality. A PEI 4 wear rating suits busy residential areas and select light commercial floors, while frost resistance opens design options for exterior wall facades in freeze–thaw climates. Use it alone for a sophisticated monochrome statement or coordinate with complementary materials for layered architectural detail.

The 12×24 format helps minimize visual breaks so patterns read smoothly in living spaces, kitchens, baths, and feature walls. Low-maintenance porcelain makes upkeep straightforward in both residential and commercial wall settings.

Installation Guide – Newton Graphite 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, flatness, movement accommodation, and required waterproofing/drainage for wet or exterior applications.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within industry tolerances for tile of this size.
  • Plan layout by dry-fitting tiles, centering the pattern, and avoiding small perimeter cuts.
  • Blend material from multiple boxes to evenly distribute shade/pattern variation.
  • Select an appropriate joint width for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and for tiles of this size and weight.
  • Key mortar into the substrate and comb with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to increase coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight slide to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond; target coverage consistent with ANSI and project conditions (higher coverage in wet/exterior areas).
  • Use a leveling system if needed to help control lippage on larger units.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Support the tile fully, mark cuts carefully, and ease sharp cut edges at exposed transitions.
  • Drill with diamond bits at low feed rates and with adequate cooling where needed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; follow manufacturer mixing and cure guidance.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner formulated for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to reduce grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance, including resealing cementitious grout if recommended.
