Installation Guide – X-Rock G 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, flatness, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within industry tolerances for the tile size.
  • Dry-lay tiles to confirm layout, balance cuts, and align joints; center the pattern to avoid small slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend material from multiple boxes to distribute any shade or pattern variation.
  • Use spacers appropriate for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171 and project conditions.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notched trowel, and back‑butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight perpendicular motion to collapse ridges and achieve required coverage for the application and location.
  • Check alignment and plane frequently; consider a leveling system to help minimize lippage on larger units.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer guidance before grouting or allowing traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts carefully and support tiles fully during cutting to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges as needed where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the planned joint width; follow manufacturer mixing and cure instructions.
  • Pack joints completely with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until the grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
  • Use walk‑off mats and protective pads under furniture to reduce grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
