Installation Guide – Titan White Touch 4×12 Glossy Ceramic Tile
Important Advisory
Inspect all tile before installation and confirm that the material is appropriate for the intended environment. Follow current Happy Floors instructions, applicable ANSI standards, TCNA guidelines, local building codes, and the setting-material manufacturer’s requirements. This product is not frost-free and should not be exposed to freeze-thaw conditions.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Confirm quantities and plan the layout before setting tile, accounting for cuts, transitions, focal points, and movement joints.
- Establish level and plumb reference lines to maintain consistent alignment.
- Dry-lay representative tiles to review the white color, glossy finish, pressed edges, and proposed pattern.
- Choose grout-joint spacing according to the tile dimensions, substrate conditions, applicable industry standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
Step 2: Tile Installation
- Install over a clean, dry, flat, stable, and properly prepared substrate that is suitable for ceramic tile.
- Repair cracks, irregularities, or other substrate deficiencies before installation. Use an approved waterproofing system in showers and other wet areas where required.
- Select a mortar compatible with ceramic tile, the substrate, and the installation environment. Follow the mortar manufacturer’s mixing, application, and open-time instructions.
- Apply mortar evenly, firmly embed each tile, and periodically check mortar transfer to verify suitable contact.
- Maintain required movement accommodation and use flexible sealant at changes of plane and other designated movement locations.
Step 3: Cutting
- Use a professional tile cutter or wet saw with a blade suitable for ceramic tile.
- Measure and dry-fit cut pieces before setting them.
- Handle the glossy face and cut edges carefully to reduce the risk of chipping or scratching.
- Use appropriate ceramic-tile tools for outlets, plumbing penetrations, and detailed cuts.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Allow the setting material to cure as directed before grouting.
- Use grout compatible with ceramic tile and the selected joint width.
- Remove excess grout promptly with a clean, damp sponge without overwetting the joints.
- Use an appropriate flexible sealant rather than rigid grout at changes of plane and movement joints where required.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Remove mortar and grout residue using methods approved for glossy ceramic tile.
- Clean routinely with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner and soft cloth, sponge, or mop.
- Avoid abrasive pads, harsh tools, and incompatible chemicals that could affect the glossy finish.
- Maintain grout and sealant joints according to their manufacturers’ care recommendations.
