Installation Guide – Statik Rust 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required. Confirm slip resistance for the intended use; this product’s listed DCOF is <0.42 and is not intended for wet floor areas.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within industry tolerances for 12×24 tile.
  • Plan the layout by dry-laying tiles, centering the design, and avoiding narrow perimeter cuts.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute shade/pattern variation evenly.
  • Use spacers appropriate for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notched trowel, and back-butter tiles as needed for proper coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges; achieve coverage per standards for the application and location.
  • Use a leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage with 12×24 layouts.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw equipped with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts carefully and support the tile fully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing, application, and cure.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner appropriate for porcelain tile; avoid acids or harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads where appropriate to minimize tracked-in grit and potential scratching.
  • Follow grout and mortar manufacturers’ maintenance guidance; seal cementitious grout if recommended.
