Installation Guide – Statik Electrik 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and required waterproofing/drainage for wet or exterior locations.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within industry tolerances for the chosen tile size.
  • Plan the layout by dry-laying tiles, centering the pattern, and avoiding sliver cuts at perimeters.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute any shade variation evenly.
  • Select spacers appropriate for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171 and project conditions.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile and the site conditions (interior/exterior, wall).
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb in one direction with a notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight sliding motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond; verify coverage per standards and application.
  • Use a leveling system if needed to help control lippage on larger-format layouts.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or applying load.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade designed for porcelain.
  • Measure and mark carefully; support the tile fully during cuts to minimize chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges as needed at exposed transitions.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the intended joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing and cure.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic and moisture until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain; avoid harsh acids or abrasive tools.
  • Use entry mats and protective pads to reduce tracked-in grit and potential scratching on adjacent finishes.
  • Follow grout and mortar manufacturers’ maintenance recommendations; seal cementitious grout if specified.
