Installation Guide – Phase Ecru Storm Deco 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA). Verify substrate suitability, flatness, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances appropriate for 12×24 porcelain tile.
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, balance cuts, and align patterns; avoid small perimeter slivers.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to evenly distribute any shade or graphic variation.
  • Select spacers consistent with rectified edges and the intended pattern; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile and for the project’s substrate and conditions.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb in straight lines with a suitable notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to enhance bond.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve coverage per ANSI/TCNA recommendations for the application.
  • Use a leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage with larger-format tiles.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Use a wet saw with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark and support cuts carefully to minimize chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose a grout compatible with porcelain and the selected joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing and cure.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float; clean diagonally and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to reduce tracked-in grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer guidance for maintenance; seal cementitious grout if recommended.
