Installation Guide – Neostile 2.0 Grafite 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage requirements where applicable.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances for large-format tile (12×24).
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, center the design, and avoid small perimeter cuts.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute shade variation evenly.
  • Use spacers appropriate for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and, when applicable, for large-format tile.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb in one direction with an appropriate notched trowel, and back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges; achieve coverage levels required by location (typically 80–95%).
  • Use a leveling system when needed to help minimize lippage.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw equipped with a premium diamond blade suitable for porcelain.
  • Mark and support cuts carefully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing, application, and cure.
  • Fully pack joints with a rubber float, clean diagonally across joints, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use flexible sealants at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and protective pads to minimize tracked-in grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
