Installation Guide – Neostile 2.0 Cementi 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required for the application.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within industry tolerances for large-format tile such as 12×24.
  • Dry-lay to plan pattern, balance cuts, and align grout joints; avoid sliver cuts at perimeters.
  • Blend material from multiple boxes to distribute any shade variation uniformly.
  • Select joint width appropriate for rectified tile and design intent; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain; follow manufacturer guidance for the substrate and environment.
  • Key mortar into the substrate and comb in straight, parallel ridges; back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight perpendicular motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond. Target coverage in line with standards (typically 80% interior, up to 95% for wet areas/exteriors).
  • Use a tile leveling system where appropriate to help minimize lippage with 12×24 units.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or subjecting the installation to light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Support tiles fully during cuts and mark lines carefully to reduce chipping.
  • Lightly ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose a grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; mix and apply per manufacturer instructions.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove any haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured as directed.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and protective pads to limit tracked-in grit and potential scratching.
  • Follow grout and setting material manufacturers’ maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
