Kobe Verde 12×24 Polished Porcelain Tile Rectified

Sleek and striking, the Kobe Verde 12×24 porcelain tile delivers a rich green tone with a reflective polished surface. The elongated 12×24 format minimizes grout lines for a modern, continuous look across feature walls, showers, and other statement areas.

Engineered in durable porcelain at 10mm (3/8") thick, this tile features precise rectified edges to support tight, consistent joints. A PEI 4 wear rating and frost resistance add confidence for demanding interiors and exterior facades in freeze–thaw climates.

Installation Guide – Kobe Verde 12×24 Polished Porcelain Tile Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (e.g., ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances for large-format tile (12×24).
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, center the design, and avoid narrow perimeter cuts.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to evenly distribute shade and pattern variation.
  • Use spacers appropriate for rectified tile; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171 and project conditions.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and large-format tiles.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notched trowel, and back-butter large-format pieces to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond; meet coverage requirements for the application (higher coverage for exterior and wet areas).
  • Use a leveling system as needed to help minimize lippage on large-format installations.
  • Protect the polished surface from abrasion during installation; keep the setting bed and tile faces clean of grit and excess mortar.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Support the tile fully and mark cuts carefully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed or serve as transitions.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose a grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; confirm compatibility with polished finishes and test in an inconspicuous area.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use flexible sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain; avoid acids or harsh abrasives, especially on polished surfaces.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to minimize tracked-in grit and potential scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; sealing is generally not required for porcelain tile, though cementitious grout may benefit from sealing if recommended.
