Installation Guide – Intricate Cenere Veincut 12×24 Porcelain Tile Matte Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA). Confirm substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within industry tolerances for large-format tile (12×24).
  • Dry-lay to confirm layout, balance cuts, and align veining direction for a cohesive appearance.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to evenly distribute shade/pattern variation.
  • Plan recommended movement joints per TCNA EJ171 and use spacers appropriate for rectified edges and the selected pattern.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and large-format tile.
  • Key mortar into the substrate and comb with a suitable notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve bond.
  • Set tiles with a slight sliding motion to collapse ridges and achieve required coverage (typically 80–95% based on area and exposure).
  • Use a leveling system where appropriate to help minimize lippage in large-format installations.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer guidance before grouting or opening to light foot traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut using a wet saw with a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts carefully and support the tile fully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they may be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout compatible with porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing and cure times.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to reduce tracked-in grit and potential surface wear.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; seal cementitious grout if recommended.
