Installation Guide – Arona Bianco 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, stable, and flat within industry tolerances for 12×24 tile.
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, balance cuts, and align grout joints with key sightlines.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute natural shade variation.
  • Choose a grout joint consistent with rectified tile and the pattern; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and the installation environment.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve bond.
  • Set tiles with a slight sliding motion to collapse ridges; achieve coverage appropriate to the area (typically 80–95% based on application).
  • Use a leveling system where helpful to minimize lippage with 12×24 formats.
  • Respect cure times before grouting or allowing light traffic, per mortar manufacturer guidance.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a high-quality diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark and support tiles carefully to reduce chipping; ease sharp cut edges for exposed transitions.
  • Drill holes with diamond core bits at low speed with adequate cooling.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; mix and apply per manufacturer directions.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float; clean diagonally and remove haze promptly.
  • Use flexible sealant at movement joints and all changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to minimize tracked grit and surface abrasion.
  • Follow grout manufacturer recommendations for sealing and maintenance of cementitious grout if applicable.
