Installation Guide – Vanilla 1″ Hexagon Honed Marble Mosaic

Step 1: Surface Preparation

  • Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, flat, stable, and free from dust, grease, wax, or debris.
  • Repair cracks, loose areas, and uneven sections before installation.
  • Use an approved waterproofing membrane in wet areas such as shower floors and bathroom walls.
  • For shower floors, confirm that the substrate slopes properly toward the drain.

Step 2: Layout Planning

  • Dry-lay the mosaic sheets before installation to check alignment and overall appearance.
  • Blend sheets from multiple boxes to distribute natural color and veining variations evenly.
  • Adjust the layout to reduce narrow or uneven cuts along walls and edges.
  • Maintain consistent spacing between sheets so the joints match the spacing between individual hexagon pieces.

Step 3: Mortar Application

  • Use a premium white polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for natural stone.
  • Follow the mortar manufacturer’s mixing and application instructions.
  • Spread only as much mortar as can be covered before it begins to dry.
  • Use an appropriately sized notched trowel to create a consistent setting bed.
