Step 1: Surface Preparation – Set the Stage for Perfection

• Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or debris—adhesion starts with a spotless base.
• Confirm the substrate is level, firm, and crack-free to support the Trillium mosaic’s geometric precision.
• For wet areas like showers or backsplashes, apply a high-quality waterproofing membrane to protect the marble from moisture damage.
• Remove trims, outlet covers, or any obstructions that could interfere with tile placement.
• Use a leveling compound to address any dips or irregularities in the surface before installation begins.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Honor the Pattern

• Find the center of the installation area to maintain balance and symmetry in the Trillium’s unique repeating layout.
• Dry-lay several sheets to preview how Dolomite’s brightness, Milas White’s softness, and Iceberg’s cool veining work together visually.
• Adjust the layout to avoid awkward edge cuts or pattern disruptions.
• Use 1.5–3 mm spacers between sheets to ensure even grout joints and seamless transitions between tiles.

Step 3: Adhesive Application – Choose Marble-Safe Products

Recommended Thin-Set Brands (Natural Stone-Compatible):

• Mapei (e.g., Mapei White UltraFlex)
• Laticrete (e.g., 254 Platinum)
• Ardex (e.g., X5 White)

Instructions:

• Use a white, non-staining thin-set mortar to prevent discoloration beneath translucent marble surfaces.
• Mix small batches for usability within 30–40 minutes.
• Apply using a 1/4″ notched trowel—flat side to coat, then comb adhesive at a 45° angle for even distribution.
• Back-butter each sheet to promote strong adhesion and reduce the risk of lippage between tiles.
• Work in small sections to prevent the thin-set from skinning over before sheets are placed.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Precision Preserves Pattern

• Use a wet saw with a fine diamond blade to cut through Dolomite, Milas White, and Iceberg without chipping.
• Mark cuts accurately with a pencil to ensure tight, clean edge fits.
• Smooth any sharp or rough edges using a stone file or rubbing stone.
• Dry-fit trimmed pieces before final installation to confirm alignment within the geometric layout.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Level and Align

• Begin installation from the center point and work outward for visual balance.
• Firmly press mesh-backed sheets into the adhesive, following the Trillium pattern with care.
• Use spacers to keep consistent joint spacing between each sheet and within the mosaic itself.
• Gently tap tiles with a rubber mallet to ensure a level surface and eliminate air pockets.
• Wipe away excess thin-set immediately with a damp sponge to protect the polished surface.
• Allow to cure for 24 hours before proceeding to grout.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Finalize with Care

• Use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching the polished marble surfaces.
• Apply grout diagonally using a rubber float to fill joints evenly without dislodging mosaic pieces.
• Wipe off grout residue promptly using a clean, damp sponge.
• Buff away any haze after 15–20 minutes with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
• Let the grout cure for at least 72 hours before sealing.
• Apply a penetrating, marble-safe sealer to protect the stone from stains, water, and etching while maintaining its natural polish.

Maintenance Tips – Preserve the Elegance

• Clean regularly with a pH-neutral stone cleaner—avoid acidic or abrasive products that could dull the finish.
• Reseal periodically depending on traffic and exposure to moisture.
• Wipe spills immediately to prevent etching or discoloration, especially from wine, citrus, or oils.
• Use felt pads beneath furniture or décor placed near floor or wall installations to prevent scratching.

Each 9.6″ x 9.6″ mosaic sheet is individually packaged with mesh backing for easy installation. Sheets are cushioned to prevent breakage and preserve the integrity of the geometric layout.
