Installation Guide – Royal Beige 6″x24″ Splitface Ledgestone Panel (Marble)
Step 1: Surface Preparation
- Ensure the installation surface is vertical, clean, dry, and structurally sound.
- Acceptable substrates include cement backer board, concrete, or masonry.
- Install a waterproofing membrane in wet areas or exterior walls.
- Remove any paint, dust, or debris before installation.
Step 2: Dry Layout & Planning
- Dry-lay panels on the ground to assess color, texture, and splitface variation.
- Start installation from the bottom center and work upward.
- Use a level and chalk lines to ensure straight courses.
- Stagger joints for a natural appearance.
Step 3: Adhesive Application
Recommended Adhesives:
- Laticrete 254 Platinum, Mapei Ultraflex LFT, or equivalent white marble-safe thin-set mortar
Instructions:
- Apply adhesive to both the substrate and the back of each panel using a 1/2″ square-notched trowel.
- Back-butter each panel to ensure full coverage and strong bond.
- Press firmly and wiggle into place for maximum adhesion.
- Work in small sections to prevent the adhesive from skinning over.
Step 4: Cutting & Fitting
- Use a wet saw with a diamond blade suitable for marble.
- Cut panels outdoors or in a well-ventilated area with appropriate PPE.
- Dry-fit all edge and corner pieces before final installation.
Step 5: Finishing
- Splitface panels are designed for groutless, dry-stack installation.
- Clean off any excess mortar immediately with a damp sponge.
- Allow adhesive to cure for 24–48 hours before sealing or exposing to moisture.
Step 6: Sealing
- Use a high-quality, penetrating sealer safe for marble to protect the surface.
- Avoid acidic, oil-based, or surface film-forming sealers.
- Reapply sealer every 1–2 years or as needed based on exposure.
Maintenance Tips
- Clean regularly with a pH-neutral stone cleaner.
- Do not use vinegar, bleach, or other acidic products.
