Mun Rust 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Grounded and contemporary, the Mun Rust 12×24 porcelain tile delivers a warm rust tone with a soft natural (matte) surface. The color brings depth and character to modern and transitional spaces, balancing rich earthiness with a refined finish.

Engineered in durable porcelain, this 12×24 format reduces grout lines for a cleaner visual field, while rectified edges support tight, consistent joints. With a PEI 4 wear rating and a DCOF greater than 0.42, it’s designed for everyday performance in busy residential areas and select light-commercial interiors. Frost resistance extends design possibilities to exterior wall facades in freeze–thaw climates.

Use Mun Rust on its own for a cohesive, monochromatic statement or pair it with coordinating trims and surfaces to build layered architectural detail throughout kitchens, baths, and living areas.

Installation Guide – Mun Rust 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Ensure proper substrate preparation, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances appropriate for 12×24 tile.
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, balance cuts, and align patterns; avoid narrow slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute shade variation evenly.
  • Use spacers consistent with rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and the tile’s size.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notch, and back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond; target coverage per industry standards for the area of use.
  • Use a leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage on larger-format installations.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw and a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark and support tiles carefully to reduce chipping; ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.
  • Drill holes with diamond core bits at low speed and with adequate cooling as needed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow product mixing and cure guidelines.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally across the tile, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at changes of plane and movement joints; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer instructions.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to limit tracked-in grit and furniture abrasion.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
