Installation Guide – Soft Taupe 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Ensure proper substrate preparation, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within industry tolerances appropriate for 12×24 tile.
  • Plan the layout by dry-laying tiles, centering the design, and avoiding narrow perimeter cuts.
  • Blend material from multiple boxes to distribute any shade variation evenly.
  • Use appropriate spacers; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171 and project conditions.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin‑set mortar approved for porcelain tile.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notched trowel, and back‑butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back‑and‑forth motion to collapse ridges; achieve coverage levels appropriate to the area of use (higher coverage in wet/exterior areas).
  • Use a leveling system when needed to help minimize lippage in larger-format layouts.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or permitting light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw and a premium diamond blade designed for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts carefully and support the tile fully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they may be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing and cure times.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove residual haze promptly.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner approved for porcelain tile; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and protective pads to minimize tracked grit and surface wear.
  • Follow grout manufacturer recommendations for maintenance; seal cementitious grout if advised.
