Installation Guide – Titan Ivory Touch Glossy 4×12 Ceramic Tile

Important Advisory

Inspect all tile before installation to confirm color, finish, size, and overall appearance. Do not install material with visible defects. Follow Happy Floors product instructions, setting-material manufacturer requirements, applicable local building codes, and recognized tile-industry standards. Confirm that the selected substrate and complete installation system are appropriate for the intended location.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the installation area is suitable for this ceramic tile and determine the required layout before setting material.
  • Establish level and plumb reference lines to guide the installation and maintain consistent alignment.
  • Dry-lay tiles from multiple boxes to review the ivory color, glossy finish, and any variation before installation.
  • The 4×12 format can be arranged horizontally, vertically, in stacked layouts, in offset patterns, or in other planned wall designs.|Use a grout-joint width appropriate for the tile, substrate, layout, and recommendations of the tile, mortar, and grout manufacturers. Plan movement accommodation where required by the installation conditions.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Prepare a clean, dry, flat, stable, and structurally sound substrate free from dust, grease, paint, and other bond-inhibiting materials.
  • Repair cracks, uneven areas, or damaged substrate conditions before beginning installation. In wet areas, coordinate any required waterproofing system with the substrate and overall installation design.
  • Use a quality mortar suitable for ceramic tile, the substrate, and the specific installation environment. Select the mortar and trowel method according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Apply mortar evenly within the recommended working time, then press each tile firmly into place to achieve proper contact. Periodically remove a tile to verify mortar transfer and coverage.
  • Use spacers or another approved method to maintain the planned joint alignment. Check courses and patterns frequently, particularly in stacked, vertical, or offset layouts.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Use a professional tile cutter, wet saw, or other tool equipped for glazed ceramic tile.
  • Measure, mark, and dry-fit cut pieces before final placement.
  • Handle cut edges carefully to reduce chipping of the glossy surface.
  • Use appropriate ceramic-tile tools for outlet openings, plumbing penetrations, and other detailed cuts.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Allow the setting material to cure according to the mortar manufacturer’s instructions before grouting.
  • Select grout compatible with glazed ceramic tile, the planned joint width, and the installation environment.
  • Work grout into the joints using an appropriate float, then remove excess grout promptly with a clean, damp sponge without overwetting the joints.
  • After the grout has cured, remove remaining haze using a cleaning method approved for glazed ceramic tile. Follow the grout manufacturer’s guidance regarding whether sealing is appropriate for the grout.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean the glossy ceramic surface regularly with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner suitable for glazed tile.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and cleaning tools that may scratch or dull the finish.
  • Wipe away splashes, soap residue, grease, and other buildup promptly.
  • Maintain grout joints according to the grout manufacturer’s care and maintenance recommendations.
