Installation Guide – Happy Floors Limerock G 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within industry tolerances for tile of this size.
  • Plan the layout by dry‑laying tiles and centering the design to avoid small perimeter cuts.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute any shade or pattern variation evenly.
  • Select a joint width suitable for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin‑set mortar approved for porcelain tile.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, comb with an appropriate notched trowel, and back‑butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back‑and‑forth motion to collapse ridges; target the coverage required by application and location (typically 80–95%).
  • Use a tile leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage on flatter finishes and larger formats.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or allowing traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts carefully, support the tile fully, and ease sharp cut edges where they may be exposed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and PPE recommendations when cutting and handling tile.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Choose a grout suitable for porcelain and the selected joint width; mix and apply per manufacturer instructions.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealants at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic and moisture until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner formulated for porcelain; avoid acids and harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads to minimize tracked‑in grit and reduce the risk of surface abrasion.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
