Installation Guide – Eva Crystal 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Ensure proper substrate preparation, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required by application.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within industry tolerances for the tile size.
  • Plan the layout by dry-laying tiles to balance cuts and minimize small slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute any shade variation evenly.
  • Use appropriate spacers and a joint width suitable for rectified tile; include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile and the project conditions.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve coverage.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond; target the coverage required by location and exposure (typically 80–95%).
  • Use a leveling system when helpful to minimize lippage on larger tiles.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer guidance before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade suitable for porcelain.
  • Mark and support cuts carefully to reduce chipping.
  • Lightly ease sharp cut edges at exposed transitions as needed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout compatible with porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer instructions for mixing, application, and cure.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealants at changes of plane and movement joints; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer recommendations.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner formulated for porcelain tile; avoid acids or harsh abrasives.
  • Use entry mats and furniture pads to reduce tracking of grit and potential scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance guidance; reseal cementitious grout if recommended.
