Installation Guide – Pietra D’Assisi Noce 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Pressed
Important Advisory
Always follow the Happy Floors installation recommendations, applicable local building codes, and recognized industry standards such as ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines. Confirm that the substrate, setting materials, waterproofing, drainage, movement accommodation, and site conditions are appropriate for the selected application.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Verify that the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and suitably flat for the selected tile installation.
- Plan the layout before setting tile, balancing the pattern and minimizing narrow perimeter cuts.
- Inspect material before installation and blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute normal shade and pattern variation.
- Establish appropriate joints based on the tile format, layout, substrate, and industry guidance. Provide movement joints where required by the installation environment.
Step 2: Tile Installation
- Use a setting material approved for porcelain tile and appropriate for the substrate and installation location.
- Apply mortar according to the setting-material manufacturer’s instructions, using coverage and application practices suitable for the tile and site conditions.
- Set tiles with consistent alignment and joint spacing, checking regularly for lippage and bond.
- Allow the setting material to cure according to its manufacturer’s instructions before grouting or permitting traffic.
Step 3: Cutting
- Use a wet saw or other suitable cutting equipment with a diamond blade intended for porcelain tile.
- Measure and mark cuts carefully, supporting the tile during cutting to help reduce chipping.
- Ease or finish exposed cut edges where needed at transitions and perimeter locations.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Select grout compatible with porcelain tile, the planned joint width, and the application environment.
- Pack joints fully and clean the surface in accordance with the grout manufacturer’s instructions.
- Use flexible sealant rather than grout at movement joints, changes of plane, and other locations requiring sealant.
- Protect the installation from traffic until the grout and setting materials have cured as directed.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Remove installation residue using products approved for porcelain tile and follow the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions.
- Clean routinely with a suitable pH-neutral tile cleaner and avoid harsh abrasives or products that may damage the surface or grout.
- Follow the grout manufacturer’s recommendations for ongoing care and sealing where applicable.
