Installation Guide – Arona Bianco 12×24 Polished Porcelain Tile Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and required waterproofing/drainage for wet or exterior areas.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances for 12×24 tile.
  • Plan the layout and dry-lay tiles to balance cuts and avoid narrow slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend material from multiple boxes to evenly distribute any shade variation.
  • Use appropriate spacers and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171 and project conditions.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and the tile’s format.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with a suitable notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to meet coverage requirements for the location (interior, wet area, or exterior wall).
  • Set tiles with a slight slide to collapse ridges and achieve full contact; check coverage periodically.
  • Consider a tile leveling system to help minimize lippage on larger-format installations.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or loading the surface.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut using a wet saw with a quality diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Support the tile fully and mark cuts carefully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where exposed for a refined finish.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; verify compatibility with polished surfaces to avoid scratching.
  • Pack joints completely with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic or cleaning until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner formulated for porcelain; avoid harsh acids or abrasive pads that may dull a polished finish.
  • Use entry mats and protective pads to limit tracked-in grit on adjacent floors and to protect finished edges.
  • Follow grout manufacturer recommendations for maintenance; seal cementitious grout if specified.
