Bernini Ice 12×24 Porcelain Tile Polished Rectified

Sleek and luminous, the Bernini Ice 12×24 porcelain tile delivers a crisp, light tone with a high-polish finish that reflects natural and ambient light. Its clean look pairs easily with modern and classic palettes alike.

Rectified edges support tight, consistent joints, and the 12×24 format reduces grout lines for a smooth visual flow on walls and floors. Made in durable porcelain at 3/8 in. (9 mm) thickness with a PEI 4 wear rating, it’s built for everyday performance in residential spaces and select light commercial interiors. Frost resistance extends design options to exterior facades in freeze–thaw climates.

Installation Guide – Bernini Ice 12×24 Porcelain Tile Polished Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required for the application.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, sound, and flat within industry tolerances for 12×24 porcelain tile.
  • Dry-lay tiles to balance cuts and align joints; center the layout to avoid small slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend material from multiple boxes to evenly distribute any shade or tone variation.
  • Use spacers to achieve a consistent joint appropriate for rectified tile, and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain tile and the project conditions (interior/exterior, wall/floor).
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to promote full contact.
  • Set tiles with a slight push-and-slide motion to collapse ridges and achieve the coverage required by ANSI and the application location.
  • Check plane and alignment frequently; use a leveling system if needed to help minimize lippage with this format.
  • Allow the mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or opening to light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw fitted with a premium diamond blade suitable for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts accurately and support the tile fully to reduce chipping.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout compatible with polished porcelain and the chosen joint width; test in a small area if needed to check for scratching or pigment staining.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove residual haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealant at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner formulated for porcelain tile; avoid acids, harsh alkalis, and abrasive pads.
  • Use entry mats and furniture glides to reduce tracked grit and potential abrasion.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance recommendations; seal cementitious grout if specified by the grout maker.
