Installation Guide – Iceberg Polished Marble Baseboard Trim (4″x12″)
Step 1: Surface Preparation – Begin with a Solid Base
- Complete floor tile installation before installing baseboard trim.
- Ensure the wall area where the trim will be placed is clean, dry, and flat.
- Remove dust, adhesive residue, and paint flakes for better bonding.
Step 2: Dry Layout – Measure and Pre-Fit
- Dry-lay baseboard pieces to determine spacing, pattern flow, and veining continuity.
- Mark a level guide line on the wall approximately 4 inches above the floor.
- Trim pieces with a wet saw using a fine diamond blade for accurate cuts.
Step 3: Adhesive Application – Set the Trim
Recommended Adhesives:
- Laticrete 254 Platinum White
- Mapei Ultralite Mortar (non-sag, white)
Instructions:
- Apply a small amount of thin-set mortar to the back of each baseboard piece using a margin trowel.
- Back-butter for full contact, then press firmly along the guide line, resting just above the floor tile.
- Use painter’s tape to temporarily hold pieces in place during curing (minimum 24 hours).
Step 4: Grouting – Complete the Finish
- Wait 24 hours before grouting.
- Use non-sanded grout to protect the polished surface from scratching.
- Clean excess grout immediately with a damp sponge and buff surface after 30–45 minutes.
Step 5: Sealing – Protect the Stone
- Allow grout to cure (72 hours), then apply a penetrating sealer safe for polished marble.
- Reseal periodically based on exposure to moisture and cleaning frequency.
