Pedestal and other elevated installations require specific manufacturer approval and appropriate engineering.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

• Inspect all 24×48 pavers before installation. Verify shade, caliber, thickness, finish, and quantity, and review material from multiple boxes for visual consistency.
• Dry-lay representative pavers to establish the preferred layout, balance cuts, and distribute natural stone-inspired color and graphic variation.
• Plan joint widths, perimeter clearances, movement joints, and transitions according to the selected installation system and manufacturer requirements.
• Establish reference lines using chalk or a laser. For exterior applications, confirm the required drainage slope away from buildings and other structures.
• Account for the weight and dimensions of the 24×48 format when planning material handling, cutting, and installation.

Step 2: Paver Installation

• Prepare a stable, properly engineered substrate or base suitable for the selected 2CM porcelain paver installation system. Verify compaction, drainage, load requirements, and surface tolerances before setting pavers.
• For approved sand-set installations, use the specified bedding and base materials and provide uniform support beneath each paver. Follow the applicable requirements for edge restraints and jointing materials.
• For approved mortar-set installations, use a compatible exterior-rated mortar system designed for large-format porcelain pavers. Prepare the substrate and achieve the required mortar coverage and support.
• Do not install this 24×48 paver on adjustable pedestals or other elevated support systems unless Happy Floors and the pedestal-system manufacturer explicitly approve the specific product, span, loading conditions, and installation configuration.
• Maintain consistent joint spacing appropriate for rectified edges and the selected installation method. Never install pavers tightly edge to edge.
• Position each paver carefully using suitable handling equipment and installation tools. Ensure uniform support and avoid concentrated impact or excessive force that could damage the porcelain.
• Check alignment, elevation, drainage, and joint consistency throughout installation. Provide movement accommodation and perimeter restraint as required by the installation design.

Step 3: Cutting

• Use a professional wet saw equipped with a diamond blade rated for 20 mm porcelain pavers and capable of safely accommodating the 24×48 format.
• Support the entire paver during handling and cutting to reduce movement, cracking, and edge chipping.
• Measure and mark each cut carefully, accounting for joint widths, perimeter clearances, and planned movement spaces.
• Use appropriate eye, hearing, hand, and respiratory protection. Control silica-containing dust in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
• Inspect cut edges before installation and avoid placing cracked or damaged pieces in service.

Step 4: Joint Filling

• For approved sand-set installations, use a jointing material specifically compatible with porcelain pavers, the selected joint width, and exterior conditions.
• For mortar-set installations, allow the setting materials to cure as directed before applying a compatible exterior-grade grout.
• For approved pedestal installations, follow the pedestal-system manufacturer’s joint, spacer, perimeter restraint, and drainage requirements.
• Provide appropriate movement joints and use compatible flexible sealants where required. Do not fill designated movement joints with rigid grout.
• Remove excess jointing material and installation residue promptly using cleaning methods approved for the porcelain surface.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

• Clean routinely using water, a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain, and non-abrasive cleaning tools.
• For the Grip / Sanded surface texture, use cleaning equipment appropriate for textured porcelain without damaging the finish.
• Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive tools, and cleaning products not approved for the installed materials.
• Remove construction residue and grout haze according to the setting-material and cleaning-product manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Porcelain pavers generally do not require sealing. Periodically inspect joints, perimeter restraints, drainage paths, and the supporting installation system.
