Installation Guide – Step by Step

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Ensure a Solid Foundation

• Thoroughly clean and dry the surface; remove dust, oil, and residues that could affect adhesion.
• Confirm the substrate is level, solid, and crack-free.
• In wet areas (e.g., showers), apply a waterproofing membrane to prevent moisture damage.
• Remove any trims or outlet covers that may obstruct sheet alignment.
• Use a leveling compound if needed to correct any uneven areas.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Maintain Pattern Flow

• Identify the center point of the installation area to achieve a balanced layout.
• Dry-lay a few sheets to inspect veining consistency and color flow characteristic of Iceberg marble’s icy veining and white background.
• Adjust placement to avoid awkward or small edge cuts.
• Use 1.5–3 mm spacers between sheets to ensure even grout lines.

Step 3: Adhesive Application – Select the Right Thin-Set

Recommended Thin-Set Brands (Natural Stone-Friendly):

• Mapei
• Laticrete
• Ardex

Instructions:

• Use a white, non-staining thin-set mortar formulated for natural stone to avoid discoloring the polished finish.
• Mix small batches that can be applied within 30 minutes.
• Spread adhesive with a 1/4″ notched trowel; use the flat side first, then comb at a 45° angle for even coverage.
• Back-butter each sheet to ensure full coverage and reduce lippage.
• Work in manageable sections to avoid thin-set drying before the sheets are placed.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Precision Matters

• Use a wet saw with a fine diamond blade suitable for marble to prevent chipping.
• Mark cuts accurately with a pencil.
• Smooth any cut edges using a stone file or rubbing block to preserve the polished surface.
• Dry-fit sheets before final placement to ensure proper alignment.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Maintain the Petit Beurre Pattern

• Begin at the center of the installation area and work outward to preserve pattern symmetry.
• Press mesh-backed sheets gently but firmly into the adhesive.
• Use spacers between sheets to maintain uniform grout lines.
• Lightly tap with a rubber mallet to level tiles and reduce lippage.
• Immediately wipe away excess adhesive with a damp sponge to protect the polished finish.
• Allow the installation to cure for at least 24 hours before grouting.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Protect the Finish

• Use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching the polished marble surface.
• Apply grout diagonally with a rubber float, ensuring all joints are completely filled.
• Wipe off excess grout immediately with a damp sponge.
• After 15–20 minutes, buff away any grout haze with a soft, dry cloth.
• Allow grout to cure for 72 hours.
• Apply a penetrating marble-safe sealer to protect against moisture, stains, and etching.

Maintenance Tips – Keep It Beautiful

• Use pH-neutral cleaners formulated for natural stone to maintain the polished finish.
• Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that could damage the marble.
• Reseal periodically depending on usage and exposure to preserve the tile’s finish.
• Use felt pads under furniture to prevent scratching and surface damage.
