Installation Guide – Neostile 2.0 Chalk 3×12 Porcelain Bullnose Tile
Important Advisory
Inspect all pieces before installation and confirm color, finish, dimensions, edge orientation, and coordination with the selected Neostile 2.0 field tile. Follow Happy Floors product instructions, setting-material manufacturer recommendations, applicable local codes, and recognized tile installation standards.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Confirm the location of the finished edge, border, or transition before setting the trim.
- Dry-fit the bullnose with the adjacent field tile to check alignment, spacing, corners, and the overall appearance.
- Plan cuts and transitions so factory-finished bullnose edges face exposed areas whenever practical.
- Maintain consistent joint alignment between the bullnose and surrounding tile while allowing for required movement joints in the overall installation.
Step 2: Bullnose Installation
- Prepare a clean, dry, sound, and properly aligned substrate suitable for porcelain tile installation.
- Use a setting material recommended for porcelain tile and compatible with the substrate and installation conditions.
- Apply the setting material according to the manufacturer’s instructions, achieving appropriate contact behind the bullnose without leaving voids or excessive buildup.
- Press each piece into position and align it with the adjoining field tile, checking the finished edge regularly for a straight, even installation.
- Remove excess setting material from the tile face and joints before it hardens, and allow the installation to cure as directed before grouting.
Step 3: Cutting
- Measure each cut carefully and dry-fit the piece before applying setting material.
- Use a wet saw and diamond blade appropriate for porcelain when cuts are required.
- Smooth or ease cut edges as appropriate for the installation, while keeping factory-finished edges oriented toward exposed areas whenever possible.
- Take additional care at corners and transitions to preserve consistent alignment and joint spacing.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Use a grout compatible with porcelain tile, the selected joint width, and the installation conditions.
- Apply grout according to the grout manufacturer’s instructions, keeping the bullnose aligned with the surrounding tile.
- Remove excess grout from the tile surface with suitable cleaning methods before it cures.
- Use a flexible sealant at changes of plane or movement joints where required by the installation design and applicable standards.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean the finished surface with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile.
- Remove installation residue, spills, and dirt using methods recommended by the tile and cleaning-product manufacturers.
- Avoid harsh abrasive products or tools that could affect the tile or grout appearance.
- Follow the grout manufacturer’s guidance for ongoing maintenance and sealing, if applicable.
