Installation Guide – Nextone White 24×48 2CM Porcelain Paver – Natural
Important Advisory
This guide provides general planning information for the Nextone White 24×48 2CM Porcelain Paver. Confirm that the selected installation method, substrate, intended use, and site conditions are appropriate for this product before beginning work. Follow current Happy Floors instructions, applicable local building codes, drainage requirements, and recognized TCNA/ANSI industry standards. Consult a qualified installation professional for project-specific requirements.
Step 1: Layout & Planning
- Inspect all pavers before installation and verify the color, size, thickness, finish, edge condition, and quantity. Do not install material with visible defects.
- Dry-lay representative pavers to establish the preferred layout, balance perimeter cuts, and coordinate transitions with adjacent surfaces.
- Plan joint widths, perimeter clearances, movement accommodation, and transitions according to the selected paver installation system and manufacturer requirements.
- Establish control lines with a chalk line or laser and confirm finished elevations, drainage, and clearance from adjoining structures where the pavers are used outdoors.
Step 2: Paver Installation
- Prepare a stable, properly engineered substrate or base suitable for the selected 2CM porcelain paver installation system. Confirm required compaction, drainage, load capacity, and surface tolerances before setting the pavers.
- Use only an installation method and setting or bedding system specifically approved for this product, application, and project conditions. Do not assume that sand-set, mortar-set, pedestal, rooftop, or other elevated systems are interchangeable.
- For an approved sand-set installation, follow the system manufacturer’s requirements for base preparation, bedding material, edge restraints, jointing material, and drainage.
- For an approved mortar-set installation, use a compatible setting system suitable for porcelain pavers and follow the manufacturer’s requirements for substrate preparation, support, and mortar coverage.
- Maintain consistent joints appropriate for rectified pavers and the selected installation system. Do not install pavers tightly edge to edge unless the approved system specifically requires otherwise, and provide movement accommodation as required by the design standard and manufacturer instructions.
Step 3: Cutting
- Use professional cutting equipment and a diamond blade rated for porcelain pavers and capable of safely handling the 24×48 format.
- Support the full paver during handling and cutting to reduce movement, cracking, and edge chipping.
- Measure each cut carefully, allowing for planned joints, perimeter clearances, transitions, and movement spaces.
- Use appropriate eye, hearing, hand, and respiratory protection, and control silica-containing dust in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
Step 4: Joint Filling
- Select jointing or grout materials compatible with porcelain pavers, the approved installation method, the joint width, and the project conditions.
- For mortar-set installations, allow setting materials to cure as directed by the system manufacturer before filling joints.
- Provide movement joints and use compatible flexible sealants where required. Do not fill designated movement joints with rigid grout or jointing material.
- Remove excess jointing material and installation residue promptly using cleaning methods approved for the porcelain surface.
Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance
- Remove installation residue and grout haze according to the recommendations of the setting-material and cleaning-product manufacturers.
- Clean routinely with water, a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain, and non-abrasive tools.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive equipment, and products not approved for porcelain surfaces.
- Periodically inspect outdoor installations for joint condition, perimeter restraints, drainage, and movement-related changes.
