Bernini Frost 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Bernini Frost 12×24 porcelain tile pairs a refined, light-toned aesthetic with a versatile natural (matte) surface. The elongated 12×24 format reduces grout lines for a smooth, modern look, while precise rectified edges support tight, consistent joints.

Engineered in durable porcelain with a PEI 4 wear rating, this tile balances design flexibility with everyday practicality. Frost resistance expands possibilities to exterior wall facades in freeze–thaw climates. Box coverage is 11.63 sq. ft. (6 pieces), helping streamline takeoffs and estimates.

Use Bernini Frost on its own for crisp minimalism or coordinate with complementary materials to build layered architectural detail. The soft, low-sheen finish complements a wide range of palettes and styles.

Installation Guide – Bernini Frost 12×24 Porcelain Tile Natural Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the tile manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Verify substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Confirm the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerance for 12×24 tile.
  • Dry-lay to plan layout, balance cuts, and align grout joints; avoid small slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend tiles from multiple boxes to distribute shade/pattern variation evenly.
  • Use spacers appropriate for rectified tile and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer‑modified thin‑set mortar approved for porcelain and the project conditions.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb with an appropriate notched trowel; back‑butter tiles as needed.
  • Set tiles with a slight back‑and‑forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve proper bond.
  • Target mortar coverage per industry guidelines (typically 80–95% depending on area and exposure).
  • Use a tile‑leveling system when helpful to minimize lippage on larger formats like 12×24 tiles. Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer directions before grouting or light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a quality wet saw and diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Mark cuts carefully, support the tile fully, and feed steadily to reduce chipping.
  • Ease exposed cut edges as appropriate for a finished feel.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer mixing and cure instructions.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealants at changes of plane and movement joints; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH‑neutral cleaner made for porcelain tile; avoid harsh acids or abrasives.
  • Use walk‑off mats and protective pads to minimize tracked‑in grit and scratching.
  • Follow grout manufacturer recommendations for maintenance; seal cementitious grout if advised.
