Installation Guide – Statik Electrik 12×24 Porcelain Tile Polished Rectified

Important Advisory

Always follow the product manufacturer’s instructions, local building codes, and recognized industry standards (ANSI A108/A118 and TCNA guidelines). Confirm substrate suitability, movement accommodation, and waterproofing/drainage where required.

Step 1: Layout & Planning

  • Verify the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat within tolerances appropriate for 12×24 tile.
  • Plan the layout by dry-laying tiles, balancing cuts, and aligning with focal lines; avoid small slivers at perimeters.
  • Blend product from multiple boxes to distribute any shade/pattern variation.
  • Use spacers suitable for rectified edges and include movement joints per TCNA EJ171.

Step 2: Tile Installation

  • Use a polymer-modified thin-set mortar approved for porcelain and for the tile’s format and setting location.
  • Key mortar into the substrate, then comb in one direction with an appropriate notched trowel; back-butter tiles as needed to improve contact.
  • Set tiles with a slight back-and-forth motion to collapse ridges and achieve the coverage required by standards and application.
  • Use a leveling system where helpful to minimize lippage with larger-format installations.
  • Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer instructions before grouting or allowing light traffic.

Step 3: Cutting

  • Cut with a wet saw using a premium diamond blade rated for porcelain.
  • Support the tile fully and mark cuts carefully to reduce chipping on the polished surface.
  • Ease sharp cut edges where they will be exposed.

Step 4: Joint Filling

  • Select a grout suitable for porcelain and the chosen joint width; follow manufacturer directions for mixing and cure.
  • Pack joints fully with a rubber float, clean diagonally, and remove haze promptly with clean water.
  • Use appropriate sealants at movement joints and changes of plane; do not grout these areas.
  • Protect the installation from traffic until grout has cured per manufacturer guidance.

Step 5: Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean routinely with a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for porcelain tile; avoid acids or harsh abrasives, especially on polished surfaces.
  • Use entry mats and felt pads where appropriate to minimize tracked-in grit.
  • Follow grout manufacturer maintenance recommendations; reseal cementitious grout if specified.
